[e-queen.com] Thin fashion models

Fashion models are considered ideal for designers but they're not meant to arouse men (that's the job of glamour models), they're meant to display a wide variety of styles. The trend of skinny fashion models actually started in the 60s with Twiggy, who was far skinnier than Tyra. Fashion models are the paragon of beauty. Again, on and individual level one can disagree, but one can’t escape that high fashion also trickles down into good old television ads and billboards. Fashion models are often naked, and barely 18. Other models, under 18, are scantily clad ALL THE TIME in fashion ads.

Designers took their inspiration from this new movement and when they incorporated these ideas into their new collections they found that the glamazons could not represent them. Supermodels could never be anything but glamazons so when fashion needed them to be something other than glamorous they couldn't deliver. Designers will only stop using super-thin models when the public stops buying the clothes. Fashion is a business, and if fat women sold fashion, then designers would use fat women. Design is a form of expression and a fashion show is an aesthetic undertaking. Designing clothes for aesthetic effect is a creative undertaking.

Thin as what the designer meant and want is ridiculously hideous to normal eyes. They look like skeleton and makes the cloths look awful and ugly. Think Johnny Depp, Steve McQueen, the Beatles--most of these guys are very good looking, non very muscular, not too tall or too short or too skinny. Brad Pitt is much skinnier than that guy in the painting--he was at his most muscular in Troy but otherwise he is just lightly muscled (in most roles), having a soccer player's physique. Thin fashion models are restricted with what they can eat and are watched closely to check they don’t put on any weight. If they did put on weight, there would always be a thinner model somewhere else, so the model that had put on weight would be rejected.
